A prequel is the backstory before the main narrative starts. An origin story, if you will. Oftentimes, growing up feels like just this. While I do believe that we are always in the process of becoming, I have learned through personal experience that focusing too much on that next chapter makes you lose sight of the exciting, formative chapter that you’re in the middle of writing.
Welcome to The Prequel Project, a space built on everything I wish I’d known before college, careers, bills, burnout, and figuring out what “being an adult” even means. Don’t get me wrong—I still don’t have this figured out. But I have learned a lot of valuable lessons and perhaps maybe those will help you.
Think of this blog as a collection of letters to my younger self—full of honest advice, hard-learned lessons, and the kind of insight I really could’ve used when I was applying to schools, choosing a major, or panicking about the future. Perhaps these letters will guide your exploration of your own questions, and free up space in your head to focus on enjoying the present.
Whether you’re deciding between STEM and liberal arts, learning how to budget on $100, or just trying not to lose yourself in the process—you’re in the right place.
This isn’t about having it all figured out. It’s about starting smarter than I did.
